The 8 lessons I would tell my younger self that would drastically accelerate my life 1000%
It's an interesting concept:
If you had the opportunity to call your younger self and shed some life defining lessons, what would you say?
It's a thought exercise that has been played around with by scores of people.
Of course, we cannot do that nor will we ever have the technology to go backwards in time.
So where does that leave us? Well, it leaves us at a place to share the information we know now to others who may glean the lessons for their own benefit.
Below are the 8 lessons I would share with my younger self but cannot, thus I share them with you to help accelerate your life 1000%.
You’re never going to have the plan ‘perfect’ so start now.
We all have dreams. We all want to make those dreams happen. We are often scared to take that first step- rightfully so. We are afraid for many reasons.
We don’t know where to start.
Our dream is so daunting how could we ever accomplish it?
We don’t know how long we are going to persevere when challenges arise.
It’s amazing, however, what one can accomplish in one month, one year or five years if they work hard and keep their head down away from all the distractions.
Not every girl you go on a date with needs to be your girlfriend.
You like being liked- especially by the opposite sex.
It’s okay to put yourself out there and be rejected (and subsequently reject people). It’s a BIG world out there with many people.
Enjoy the moments you have with people- especially the opposite sex. You are still so young. You will meet many people over the next 5 years.
Say “No” to more people more often.
You don’t have to always agree with people. In fact, disagreeing can bring you closer to someone.
Always being compliant with the requests and beliefs of others is not a fulfilling way to live.
Know the facts to your claims and disagree.
Know your goals and reject requests if they take you off the path.
Know your worth and say no to wishes that make you feel less.
Invest in Bitcoin.
If given the opportunity, who wouldn’t?
Invest in a personal boxing coach (or any personal trainer).
I’ve always been decently physically fit. I’ve been active for most of my life and joined many team sports throughout my time.
I always thought I was pushing myself physically.
Boy, was I wrong.
You need to hold yourself accountable to someone else when considering your physical health.
You need someone there to push you when you think you have given it all you have.
You need to feel guilty when you miss a workout.
You need to learn from an expert of the craft.
Wouldn’t you want to see all those memories from the past 5 years?
The good ones and the bad?
You’re memory isn’t as good as you think it is. Journal so you can see how far you’ve come and how far you still need to go.
Put your ideas out there.
You are a node in a network. Your impact on other people will have effects you cannot even comprehend.
Some of your ideas will be rejected with extreme scrutiny (even from close friends and family).
Many of your ideas will be accepted with enthusiastic reception. Follow this reaction and begin building your dream.
You will lose touch with some friends- that’s okay.
As the years go on, the capacity of your friendships will change.
This is okay for you are on your path in life and they are on theirs.
Always cherish the sacred memories you have with these individuals when the times were good. Be okay with moving on, however.
You owe it to yourself to keep progressing forward, with or without these once special people.
